ALGONA — Kossuth County frontline responders in the battle against COVID-19 will be tested for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

Testing is only eligible for frontline workers and will not be made available to the public.

Those eligible for testing include personnel employed by the following: emergency medical services, emergency management, law enforcement agenices, Kossuth Regional Health Center, home health and hospice, long-term care facilities and assisted living facilities.

Testing will help mitigate outbreaks at area facilities that house those most vulnerable to the novel coronavirus, according to Lynzie Nilles, Kossuth County Public Health director.

As of Friday night, nine positive cases of COVID-19 had been identified in Kossuth County since testing began.
