Supervisors approve detour, bridge projects

Webster County Supervisors approved new pay increases, a Dayton traffic detour, set a public hearing for next year’s Secondary Road Budget and approved bridge replacement projects at their Tuesday meeting.

The following salary step increases were approved for corrections officers at Webster County Jail:

• Jaidon Edwards, from $16.32 to $16.80 per hour.

• Tiffany Milham, from $16.32 to $16.80 per hour.

• Kamden Kramer, from $16.80 to $17.40 per hour.

• Brody Goodman, from $16.80 to $17.40 per hour.

• Anthony Valenti, from $16.80 to $17.40 per hour.

Supervisors also approved part-time Corrections Officer Caleb Carmichael for full-time service starting March 23.

The city of Dayton was given permission by supervisors to close the extension of Iowa Highway 175 from Sixth Avenue Northwest to Oak Park Road, from 9:10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 for its annual Labor Day parade.

A public hearing for fiscal year 2021’s secondary road budget and five-year construction program will be held on Tuesday, March 31.

Supervisors approved plans for bridge replacement projects at the following locations, setting bid letting for 10:30 a.m. on March 31:

• On 150th Street, approximately 1,800 feet east of Baxter Avenue.

• On 140th Street, approximately 4,500 feet east of Paragon Avenue.

• On 340th Street, approximately 4,700 feet east and 1,600 feet south of Vasse Avenue.

• On Hayes Avenue, approximately 3,200 feet south of 290th Street.

• On 260th Street, approximately 1,400 feet east of Dakota Avenue.

County Engineer Jamie Johll said that the five projects will be bundled into groups of three and two for contractors.
