Fort Dodge council to consider apartment zoning request

A zoning change to allow the construction of a large apartment building and a series of townhomes will be considered by the Fort Dodge City Council when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S.

Eagle Construction, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has proposed a multi-family housing complex on the southeast side of the intersection of Dodger Drive and North 29th Street. It would include a four-story apartment building with 93 units, five townhome buildings of five units each and two garages with 12 stalls in each.

To make that possible, the zoning of the site must first be switched from an agricultural status to a residential multi-family designation.

Also on Monday, the council will consider a series of agreements for using tax increment financing to support Main Street Fort Dodge, the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance and Plumb Supply Co., which is renovating a building at 625 S. 22nd St.
