Fort Dodge council to consider more broadband work

Since Fort Dodge voters said yes to the possibility of a municipal broadband utility earlier this month, the City Council is getting ready to examine the idea in greater depth.

The council on Monday will consider hiring SmartSource Consulting, of Grimes, to essentially prepare a business plan for a potential broadband utility.

That’s not the only thing on the council’s agenda for Monday, however.

The council’s work will begin at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., with a workshop on the Kosovo youth exchange.

Then at 5:30 p.m. there will be a workshop on housing.

The council’s regular business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. That’s when the broadband contract will be considered.

Immediately after the business meeting, there will be a workshop on the capital improvement plan.
