Humboldt Supervisors support watershed grant application

DAKOTA CITY — Humboldt County Supervisors on Monday signed a letter of support for the Boone River Watershed Management Authority’s application to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for a planning grant.

Supervisors allocated $500 to use as a cash match should the grant be awarded.

All counties in the watershed, which include Humboldt, Kossuth, Hancock and Wright Counties, are being asked to donate $500 to help the watershed qualify for federal matching grants, which could award them thousands more, Supervisor Sandy Loney said.

Loney said the grant funds will be used for conservation efforts to build up the watershed and develop sustainable uses with land north of Renwick.
