Lane closures returning to Fifth Avenue South

Traffic restrictions will return to a section of Fifth Avenue South on Monday so that new street lights can be installed.

The eastbound lanes of Fifth Avenue South between 31st and 32nd streets will be closed Monday and will remain closed for two to three days, according to the Fort Dodge city engineering staff.

When the work is done there, crews will move to the other side of Fifth Avenue South and the westbound lanes will be closed.

Putting up the new street lights will be one of the final phases of an overhaul of that stretch of Fifth Avenue South. Earlier this year, drivers faced lane closures there as the road surface was reconstructed.

This work is part of the Corridor of Commerce project that updated Fifth Avenue South between 21st and 32nd streets.
