Fire burns porch at Fort Dodge home

A fully-enclosed porch on a Fort Dodge house was scorched by an early morning fire Monday.

Firefighters arrived at 16 Johnson Place to find smoke and flames coming from the porch.

“We got there soon enough that we were able to prevent it from spreading into the house,” Fire Department Capt. Jeff Hill said.

He said one person who was inside the house was able to escape unharmed through a side door.

Fire damage was confined to the porch.

The fire was reported at 12:53 a.m. Firefighters and police were on the scene until 2:05 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

According to online records of the Webster County Assessor’s Office, the house is owned by Cobbler Meadows LLC, of Clive.
