Boil advisory remains in Pocahontas, water restored

POCAHONTAS — Water service has been restored in Pocahontas, but residents are still urged to boil the water before drinking it or using it in cooking.

A water main break along Northeast First Street Tuesday caused a significant loss of pressure in the system and nearly drained the community’s water tower, according to City Administrator Eric List. Because that loss of pressure could lead to bacterial contamination, residents are being urged to boil the water.

List said the water system was repaired by Tuesday night. He said the boil water recommendation will remain in place until the results of lab tests are received. Those results are expected Friday.
