Algona man gets prison time for gun possession
ALGONA — An Algona man who prosecutors said has a history of violence was sentenced Wednesday to federal prison for illegally possessing guns.
Chad M. Chase, 42, was sentenced to two years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Evidence presented at Chase’s plea and sentencing hearings stated that Chase had illegally possessed three different guns on three different occasions, according to the United States attorney’s office, Northern District of Iowa.
Chase has “a history of violence,” according to the U.S. attorney’s office, and has been convicted five times of operating while under the influence.
Two of those were felony convictions.
Additionally, on two occasions, law enforcement officers had to disarm Chase before he was prosecuted federally.
