LAKE VIEW — A man was shot in the shoulder early Wednesday morning and Sac County law enforcement are searching for a suspect.

The man, who has not identified by Sheriff Ken McClure, was shot at 3104 330th St. in Lake View.

McClure said deputies were dispatched to that location at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after receiving the report of the shooting.

The sheriff described the shooter as “an unknown assailant.”

The victim was first transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City, before then being transferred to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

McClure said it’s believed the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing, and McClure said the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the case.

The Lake View Police Department also helped on scene.

McClure said more information will be released as it become available.
