Shag The Drag event is 6 p.m. to midnight today on Central Avenue. Those attending may drive up and down Central Avenue and park at the City Square to socialize. There will be food trucks, ice cream truck and music.

Organizer James Coleman IV stated, “I started this event last year to see how the public and community would respond to this event. After the first four hours of the news of the event giving to the community of Fort Dodge it blew up. The citizens of Fort Dodge as a whole missed the good ole days of nice cars driving up and down Central over and over again. Then after a few trips up and down Central, people would take their car down to the square, park, and socialize. …

“Basically we’re bringing the Fort Dodge community together for a night of fun and bringing back the good ole days of nice cars and great people.”

The first 50 drivers who register their cars at PMS Custom Prints from 6 to 6:30 p.m. will have a chance to have their name and car on next year’s T-shirt. The winner will be picked at 7 p.m.

Coleman asked that participants tune in to Mix 94.5 in their vehicles to have the same music playing.
