Projects, plans await Fort Dodge council on Monday

Firehouse renovations, new software for the Police Department and a roof replacement project at the library are all on the agenda for the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.

The council will hold a workshop session beginning at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S. During that session, plans for some remodeling at the firehouse, 1515 Central Ave., will be reviewed. The plan calls for remodeling the the locker room, bathroom and shower areas to accommodate male and female firefighters. Some persistent plumbing problems would also be addressed.

Also during the workshop, the elected officials will be briefed on a new records management system to be shared by the city police, the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, and the Dayton, Gowrie and Otho-Duncombe police departments. The software is made by Zuercher Technologies LLC.

The council’s regular business meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building.

During that meeting, the council will consider buying the police records management system software. The city’s share of the cost is about $63,000.

The elected officials will also consider awarding a contract for replacing the roof on the Fort Dodge Public Library. Academy Roofing & Sheet Metal of the Midwest, of Des Moines, submitted the apparent low bid of about $425,000.
