Kids approached by stranger in Schaller

SCHALLER – Deputies in Sac County are investigating a report of a suspicious man approaching two children Wednesday in Schaller.

The incident happened at 12:30 p.m., according to Sac County Sheriff Ken McClure.

At that time, a teenage girl and her little brother were walking near Sparky’s One Stop, 200 N. Berlin St.

The children told investigators that a man in a pickup truck pulled up to them and asked if they wanted to see a puppy.

The children said no and walked the other way. They reported seeing the truck driving south on Perth Street, then possibly going north on Iowa Highway 110.

The suspect was described as a white man in his mid-30s to early-40s. He had light-colored hair which McClure said was described as “a long butch cut.”

He was wearing an orange and yellow vest, which McClure said may have been used for safety or construction.

The vehicle was a small white pickup that may have been a Chevy S10.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sac County sheriff’s office at (712) 662-7127.
