W.C. hospital victim of wire fraud

WEBSTER CITY – The hospital in Webster City is reportedly the victim of a wire fraud.

The incident, which occurred Feb. 2, involved Van Diest Medical Center, according to a Webster City Police Department report.

The amount of money affected was $33,150, the police report said.

VDMC Chief Executive Officer Lori Rathbun said Tuesday that the funds have since been recovered.

VDMC Chief Financial Officer Alice Heinrichs reported the incident to Webster City police on Feb. 9.

According to Webster City Police Chief Shiloh Mork, the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

No further details were disclosed.
