Abortion survivor to speak at Holy Trinity, St Mary’s

A woman who survived an abortion as an unborn baby will speak at two area churches on Dec. 2.

Melissa Ohden, of Sioux City, survived a saline infusion abortion in 1977 at about seven months gestation. Today she is a pro-life speaker and author.

She will be present for a private event for members of Holy Trinity Parish in Fort Dodge. That event, called Advent by Candlelight, will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Corpus Christi Parish Center on North Eighth Street. An RSVP is required.

Ohden will speak at a public event at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt that evening.

The evening will begin with a 5 p.m. mass. There will be a soup supper at 6 p.m. in the parish center. Ohden will speak at 7 p.m.

A donation of baby supplies or food for the church’s food pantry is suggested.

In 2012, Ohden established The Abortion Survivors Network, which seeks to educate the public about failed abortions and their survivors.

She is the author of ”You Carried Me: A Daughter’s Memoir.”
