A different kind of VBS

Odds are, when most people think of vacation bible school, they think of something that’s exclusively for children.

But St. Olaf Lutheran Church is doing something different with their vacation bible school this year.

Known as Life University, this year’s class will have activities for both adults and children.

“The adults are going to have classes in life and family coaching and the kids are going to have vacation bible school,” Anna Miller, the church’s Christian education director, said. “We lumped it all together and called it Life University.”

It begins Monday night at 6 p.m. with several events at the church, 239 N. 11th St.

“We have a guest speaker and his name is Bob Lenz,” Miller said. “And we have a music group performing on Monday called Love and The Outcome.”

She said they’re a famous Christian music group who is performing on Omaha, Nebraska this weekend.

“They’re in Omaha this weekend and that’ll cost you $25,” Miller said. “And here at St. Olaf, it’s a free concert.”

And on Sunday, Miller said there will be a pool party at the Rosedale Rapids Aquatic Center.

“It’s the registration night for the rest of the week,” Miller said.

The pool party lasts from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to participate, according to Miller.
