Webster County's preliminary ballot count in Tuesday's general election surpassed its 2022 midterm total, but fell short of the number cast in 2018, according to Webster County Auditor Krystal Lloyd.

A total of 12,800 ballots were counted on election night, including 8,282 cast on Election Day. Some provisional ballots and ballots from military and overseas voters could still be counted Monday, Lloyd said.

The election night total was 667 ballots higher than the 12,133 cast in the 2022 midterm election.

It remained below the 14,232 ballots cast in 2018 by 1,432.

With election night counting complete and some ballots still pending, Lloyd also thanked the workers who helped conduct the election. She offered her gratitude to Auditor's Office staff, temporary election workers, precinct election officials, absentee board members, information technology staff and election technicians.

"Thank you for your time, hard work, and dedication throughout this election," said Lloyd. "Elections require long hours, hard work, flexibility, patience, and commitment to protecting the integrity of our elections and allowing all voters the right to make their voice heard. I am proud of the work we continue to do together. I appreciate each and every one of you."
