-Submitted photo <br> Nearly 40 of Martin Marietta employees of the company’s Fort Dodge Mine recently participated in the site’s first mobile packaging event to support Meals from the Heartland, a nonprofit that fights child hunger domestically and globally. While local Martin Marietta team members have partnered with Meals from the Heartland regularly since 2016, this most recent packaging event was the first hosted at Fort Dodge. The mine team purchased the ingredients and materials for packaging and set up an assembly line to successfully package 20,736 meals. The group additionally donated $5,800 to the nonprofit; in the past decade, Martin Marietta has donated approximately $50,000 to Meals from the Heartland while packaging nearly 200,000 meals. Leading up to the event, the team also hosted a food drive to support families in need throughout Webster County and surrounding communities. All donations collected were delivered to The Lord's Cupboard.
