Iowa Central Community College has named Brandon Bush as the new executive director of advancement responsible for overseeing the college's Foundation and Alumni Office.
Bush brings many years of experience at Iowa Central, most recently serving as assistant director of student activities. In that role, he has overseen numerous areas of student life and campus recreation, helping create opportunities for students to get involved and make the most of their college experience.
A graduate of Iowa Central, Bush earned an associate of arts degree in 2007 before earning a bachelor's degree in business from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake in 2009. He began his career at Iowa Central in 2009 as an enrollment and recruitment specialist before moving into the role of assistant director of student activities in 2012.
As executive director of advancement, Bush will guide the Foundation's fundraising and scholarship efforts, work alongside the Foundation Board and college leadership, and help connect supporters with opportunities to make a lasting difference for Iowa Central students.
"Brandon understands what makes Iowa Central special because he has spent years working alongside our students, faculty and staff, and community," said college President Jesse Ulrich. "He has seen firsthand how the right opportunities, support and experiences can help students move toward a better life. We're pleased to see him bring that experience to this new role. His ability to build relationships will be valuable as we continue connecting with our alumni, donors, and communities to support student success."
Bush was selected to represent Iowa Central for the 2026 Outstanding Community College Staff Award. He will be recognized at the Community Colleges for Iowa annual convention in Des Moines in early December, where he will be considered for the statewide award. He also received a True Triton Award in 2024 and the 2023 Manson Impact Award.
"One of the things I've always enjoyed about working at Iowa Central is the people and the relationships you build along the way," said Bush. "I'm excited to take on this new role and get to know more of our alumni, donors, and community partners. I look forward to sharing the stories of what's happening at Iowa Central, helping people see the impact of their support and finding new ways to connect them with the college. The Foundation has an important role in creating opportunities for our students, and I'm grateful to join that work."
The Iowa Central Foundation supports the college through private gifts, scholarships and other investments that help advance opportunities for students and strengthen the college's impact throughout its nine-county service area.
Bush lives in Manson with his wife, Brittany, an instructor in Iowa Central's Communications Department, and their three sons, Brody, Brayden, and Benny.
