The site once known as the Landus corn bunker, located on Iowa Highway 175 south of Dayton, will soon become the location of a new county shed.
On Tuesday, the Webster County Supervisors approved purchase of the 13.5 acres from Landus for $175,000.
"We've discussed the possible purchase of this land before, and we got the bid," said Webster County Engineer Jamie Johll. "I'm working with Darren (Driscoll) to close on it."
Darren Driscoll is the county attorney.
According to Johll, the site, located at 3749 Racine Ave., will become a new county shed which will combine both the Dayton and Harcourt sheds.
According to Webster County Supervisor Chairman Austin Hayek, the purchase of the site was included in this fiscal year's budget.
The supervisors also signed a proposal for scope and an upcoming fixed bid quote with Evergreen Engineers, of Fort Dodge, for the repairs to the skywalk between the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) on First Avenue South and the courthouse on Central Avenue.
The supervisors also approved the purchase of three heat pumps from Johnson Controls for $22,600 for the Yell Building, 723 First Ave. S. Among other things the Yell Building houses the Veterans Affairs Office, Attorney Conference Room, and the Health Department reception area.
