Shooting investigation goes on

One man detained

A shooting Wednesday night in Webster County that injured one man remains under investigation.

The incident was an isolated one that poses no ongoing threat to the public, according to the Webster County Sheriff's Office.

A man was detained for questioning, the Sheriff's Office reported.

The shooting was reported at about 8:30 p.m. at Lizard Creek Ranch, 1762 Johnson Ave. According to the Sheriff's Office, the initial caller stated that an individual had been shot in the abdomen and that the suspect was still on the property.

Deputies found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Law enforcement officers searched the property and located a man matching the description of the alleged shooter provided by witnesses. He is currently being detained for questioning by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.

Throughout the night detectives with the Webster County Sheriff's Office and agents with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation executed several search warrants and interviewed multiple witnesses. While executing warrants, detectives located and seized several items pertinent to the investigation, including a firearm, mobile devices and firearm accessories.
