A night of dining and dancing is planned to help raise money to send veterans to Washington, D.C., aboard the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight.

The second annual Honor Flight Ball is planned for Nov. 14 at the Laramar Ballroom, 710 First Ave. N.

"Our veterans gave so much for this country, and the ball is our community's chance to give back," said Alex Kennebeck, president of the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight board.

"It's a great night out with dinner, music, a silent auction and a photo booth, plus a raffle for a Skywest/United Airlines round trip for two," he added.

"Every ticket helps send a local veteran to Washington, D.C., on a trip they'll never forget,' Kennebeck said.

Those tickets cost $60 per person. There is also an option to get a reserved table for eight people for $600.

Tickets can be purchased by searching for Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight on eventbrite.com.

There will also be a link for purchasing tickets on the Laramar Ballroom website.

The ball will begin with a social hour starting at 3:30 p.m.

Dinner, which will be prepared by Feed Shed Catering, of Moorland, will be served at 5 p.m Local pianist Brady O'Brien will play dinner music.

The silent auction will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Ryan Fancher, of MoJo Productions, will be the master of ceremonies and DJ for the dancing.

"This is a great way for the community to show its support," Kennebeck said.

The Brushy Creek Area Honor started in 2010. Since then it has taken more than 3,500 veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the nation's war memorials.

The flight was started by the late Ron Newsum, of Fort Dodge. Kennebeck and the board he leads is a new generation of leadership which took over after Newsum's team retired about three years ago. The new group conducted one flight this year.
