Several area volunteer fire departments have received donations from Iowa Select Farms and the Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation.

Those fire departments are in Bradgate, Clarion, Dows, Early, Goldfield, Gowrie, Havelock, Lake City, Rockwell City, Rolfe and Sac City.

Each department received $3,000 to help purchase tools, equipment and supplies, according to an announcement from the foundation.

The foundation donated $222,000 to 65 rural fire departments.

The fire department in Iowa Falls, which is the home of Iowa Select Farms and the foundation, received the largest grant of $30,000.

Iowa Select Farms and the Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation made the donations to launch Farm to Frontline to support rural first responders.

“These departments are there when people need them most,” Deb Hansen, the co-founder of Iowa Select Farms and the foundation, said in a written statement. “When an emergency happens in a rural community, these firefighters don’t hesitate. They show up for their neighbors, their friends and communities. Farm to Frontline is our way of saying thank you and helping make sure they have the tools and equipment needed to continue doing that important work.”

The 65 fire departments that received grants serve communities where Iowa Select farms operates and its employees, contractors and farmers live and work.

‘Our farms are part of these communities, and we see firsthand how important rural first responders are,” said Jeff Hansen, co-founder of Iowa Select Farms and the foundation. “They are our neighbors, and they are the people who run toward an emergency when everyone else is trying to get away from it. We’re grateful for the work they do every day, and we want to helped strengthen the departments that help keep rural Iowa safe.”
