The Fort Dodge Farmers Market is giving shoppers two more weeks to stock up on fall produce, pumpkins, baked goods, and gifts before closing for the season on Halloween.
The market, located at 11 N. 25th St., will continue its Saturday and Wednesday markets through Oct. 31, adding two Saturdays to its season, according to board member Diane Peterson.
"Now that the rain has stopped and beautiful fall weather is here, we're excited to offer fall produce, including pumpkins, until Oct. 31," said Peterson.
The Fort Dodge Farmers Market currently draws 20 to 25 vendors each Saturday. During the peak season in July and August, that number climbs to more than 35.
Along with giving shoppers additional opportunities to buy from local vendors, the extension of the season will allow customers more time to redeem their nutrition assistance benefits.
"Also this gives people with WIC and SNAP vouchers a chance to get them used up by the Oct. 31 deadline," said Peterson. "Don't forget baked goods and other gifts, too."
The final market of the season will be Saturday, Oct. 31.
