The annual car show that begins with caravans of classic vehicles rolling through the Iowa countryside before arriving in Webster County will be held Sunday.

It is called Cruise to the Woods and is being held for the 43rd time this year.

The show will be held at Lizard Creek Ranch west of Fort Dodge at 1762 Johnson Ave. Gates there will open at 8 a.m.

But what sets Cruise to the Woods apart from other car shows is the trip that the vehicles make to the show site. That trip starts on nine separate cruise routes in Iowa and Minnesota. On some of those routes, participants will get a very early start. For example, those taking the route that starts in Ottumwa will hit the road at 5 a.m. Those on the route starting in Sheldon will head out at 5:45 a.m.

All nine of those routes will come together in Stratford at 10:30 a.m. and form a big parade of classic and custom vehicles heading to Lizard Creek Ranch.

Cruise to the Woods has attracted as many as 1,200 vehicles in past years.

Vehicle owners will be eligible for prizes and trophies to be awarded at 3 p.m.

There will be an indoor and outdoor craft show at Lizard Creek Ranch during the cruise. Food will also be available there.

Starting at /week.
