Local residents who watched Wednesday's tribute to the late Dolly Parton may have spotted a familiar face on stage.
Grace Casciato, of Fort Dodge, was one of the backup singers during one portion of the show.
The daughter of Gabriel and Wendy Casciato is a senior majoring in commercial music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a 2023 graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High School.
Wendy Casciato said her daughter was to be one of the backup singers for one of the big name performers participating in the tribute. She said a confidentiality agreement prevented her daughter from saying which performer she was working with prior to the show.
"Oh, she's really excited," Wendy Casciato said Wednesday afternoon. "She's really honored to be part of the production."
"She's really excited to be part of something that is really meaningful,” she added.
Grace Casciato is a member of an all female Belmont University ensemble called Voxology that sings gospel and rhythm and blues songs. Members of that ensemble were asked to provide background vocals for some of the major singers. The group had been practicing for its part in the tribute for weeks.
The tribute was held in the Fisher Center on the Belmont University campus.
