Rescuers speak with a woman inside a vehicle that flipped onto its side during a crash in the 600 block of First Avenue South early Wednesday afternoon. The woman, who was uninjured, was assisted out of the vehicle through its rear hatchback. Her Mazda CX-5 flipped onto its driver’s side after striking a parked Fort Dodge Police Department vehicle just west of the Webster County Law Enforcement Center. The police vehicle was an unmarked Dodge Durango assigned to Police Chief Dennis Quinn. The crash happened at about 12:45 p.m. Police Lt. Matt Webb said the Mazda was southbound on Seventh Street and turned right onto First Avenue South. He said the driver "overcorrected” and hit the police vehicle. The impact shoved the police vehicle partly onto the curb. First Avenue South between Sixth and Seventh streets was closed to traffic. The Fort Dodge Fire Department and Webster County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the crash.
