Afro-Latino Festival set for Thursday

The annual Afro-Latino Festival at Iowa Central Community College will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Student Resource Center on the Fort Dodge campus.
The public is invited.
The festival is held to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. It highlights cultures, traditions and history of Afro-Latino communities through music, dance, food and educational experiences.
There will be a series of live performances during the festival. Here is the performance schedule:
• 8:30 a.m.: Carlos Chacon (Venezuela)
• 9:15 a.m.: Cucho (Peru)
• 10 a.m.: Mambo Soul Dance (Peru)
• 11 a.m.: Danza Folklorica del Oeste (Mexico)
• Noon: SonPeruchos (Latin America)
The festival is hosted by the Iowa Central Spanish Department.
The Afro-Latino Festival began at Iowa Central in 2019 as a small classroom project and has grown into an annual celebration.
