The man accused of the Saturday morning shooting in Fort Dodge that killed one person and wounded two others remains in jail on a $2 million cash only bond.
Jamarcus L. Gully, 20, of 1304 Eighth Ave. S., made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday morning on these charges:
• First degree murder
• Attempted murder of a peace officer
• Two counts of attempted murder
The shooting happened at 12:29 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of South Fourth Street.
According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, an officer on patrol spotted a man outside the Fourth Street Depot, 300 S. Fourth St., shooting a handgun, and people on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. The officer fired his gun at the suspect, police reported. The suspect then ran into and back out of the Fourth Street Depot. He was then arrested by Webster County sheriff's deputies in the 400 block of Third Avenue South, very close to the shooting scene.
Two men suffering from gunshot wounds were found on the sidewalk in front of the entrance to Fourth Street Depot. They were transported by ambulance to UnityPoint health – Trinity Regional Medical Center, where one of them died.
A third man was shot and wounded, but was not taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Police have not publicly identified the victims.
According to the criminal complaints filed against him, Gully shot the man who died multiple times with a handgun.
During Monday's initial appearance, Magistrate Brandy R. Lundy set the $2 million bond. She also issued an order barring Gully from having any contact with the victims or their families.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 8.
