Suspect faces first-degree murder charge

One man was killed and another was wounded in a burst of gunfire early Saturday morning in Fort Dodge.
The accused gunman was quickly apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and other felonies.
The shooting took place right outside of the 4th Street Depot, 300 S. Fourth St., and was the latest in a long line of incidents there that have prompted nearby residents to plead for help from the City Council.
The shooting happened at 12:29 a.m. Saturday.
According to the Fort Dodge Police Department, an officer on patrol spotted a man outside the bar shooting a handgun, and people on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. The officer fired his gun at the suspect, police reported. The suspect then ran into and back out of the 4th Street Depot. He was arrested by Webster County sheriff's deputies in the 400 block of Third Avenue South, very close to the shooting scene.
Police identified the suspect as Jamarcus L. Gully, 20, of Fort Dodge. He has been charged with:
First-degree murder.
Attempt to commit murder of a peace officer.
Two counts of attempt to commit murder.
Two men suffering from gunshot wounds were found on the sidewalk in front of the entrance to 4th Street Depot. They were transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health -- Trinity Regional Medical Center, where one of them died.
Police have not identified the victims.
Multiple cars parked on South Fourth Street were damaged by gunfire, and the glass in the door of the 4th Street Depot appeared to be shot out
Fort Dodge police, Webster County sheriff's deputies, the Iowa State Patrol and the Fort Dodge Fire Department responded.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
