One man taken to hospital following Webster City blaze

An outbuilding on a Webster County property was destroyed by fire Thursday night, while earlier in the day one man was taken to a hospital after a house fire in Webster City.
The fire at 2404 Madison Ave. in Webster County was reported at 11:14 p.m.
Otho Fire Chief Marty Smith said the fire was in an outbuilding made of a wood frame with metal siding.
"It was fully involved when we got there," he said. "We poured a lot of water on it. There's not much left of the building."
He said there was a golf cart and some other items in the building.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Smith said the massive of amount of damage would likely make it impossible to determine a cause.
Firefighters from Otho, Moorland and Lehigh responded along with Webster County sheriff's deputies. They were on scene for about two hours.
The property is owned by Randall and Darlene Lesher, according to online records of the Webster County Assessor's Office.
The fire in Webster City was reported at 4:26 p.m. at 1113 Bank St. When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the eaves, windows and doors of a two-story house.
A man found behind the house was taken to Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, according to the Fire Department.
Several animals were rescued from the house.
The Webster City fire and police departments, Van Diest Medical Center paramedics and Hamilton County sheriff's deputies responded.
The house is owned by Hartman Properties LLC, of Stanhope, according to online records of the Hamilton County Assessor's Office. It was built in 1925, according to those records.
