Jim Reed said he's often asked if he has fun organizing the Shellabration and Fort Dodge Country Jam concerts.

The president of Shellabration Inc. said he isn't sure if fun is really the right word, but added that he finds it very rewarding to look back on the success of a just completed show.

Saturday's Fort Dodge Country Jam starring Travis Tritt and featuring performances by Stadium Dr and Blake Jack & 35 South brought back that rewarding feeling for the volunteer who has led Shellabration Inc. through 25 years.

"This was one of those when you can say, 'Wow, we did it again,"" Reed said Tuesday afternoon.

He estimated the crowd for Saturday's downtown concert at between 4,300 and 4,400.

"The weather was a gift from God," he said.

Grammy-winner Tritt performed for 105 minutes, he said, adding that most headliners perform for 90 minutes.

The opening acts were "awesome," he said.

"Stadium Dr – they brought it," Reed said. "And we got rave, rave reviews about Blake Jack. Them boys are good."

He said 185 volunteers worked at the concert.
