A Saturday event will enable people to indulge their artistic side and shop for second-hand treasures all while supporting the pets at the Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa.
The event is called Pets Rock. It has two elements: an opportunity to paint rocks and a garage sale.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the animal shelter, 725 S. 32nd St.
Smitty's Lawn and Landscape, of Fort Dodge, donated a variety of round stones that can be the canvas for anyone's artwork. A $10 donation is requested for a painting rocks.
At the same time the painting is available, there will be a large garage sale. The board room in the animal shelter is packed full of donated items. Some will be sold for a freewill donation, while others will have a price tag.
All proceeds from the rock painting and the garage sale will help to pay for the care of the animals in the shelter that are awaiting their forever homes.
