FORT DODGE -- Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. TODAY and 9 a.m. to noon SATURDAY at 20 N. First St. Free admission.

FORT DODGE -- The Fort Dodge Veterans Council will hold a Beers and Ears benefit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. SATURDAY at the VFW Post 1856, 518 S. 29th St. The cost is $20. For that price, each person will get a quarter-pound hot dog, two ears of Grimes peaches and cream sweet corn and a commemorative stein. All proceeds will go to the Veterans Needs Fund.

FORT DODGE -- The Fort Museum, 1 Museum Road, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. TODAY, and noon to 4 p.m. SATURDAY and SUNDAY. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and veterans with ID, $4 for children ages 5-17 and free for children ages 4 and younger.

FORT DODGE -- Fort Dodge Farmers Market is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. SATURDAY at 11 N. 25th St.

HOMER ä The West Central Region Cockshutt & CO-OP Club Threshing Bee will be held beginning at 8 a.m. SATURDAY and SUNDAY at Homer, eight miles north of Stratford on Hamilton County Road R21. Admission is $5 and is good for both days. The Lions Club breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. High Trestle Rovers will perform on Saturday afternoon. There will be a tractor ride around Brushy Creek State Recreation Area beginning at 9 a.m., weather permitting. Activities both days include: antique tractor display, gas engine display, Cecil Widick Family Antique Sawmill, oat threshing, wood planing, corn shelling, sorghum press and cooking, Farm Primitive Museum, Boone Forks Forge Blacksmithing, ham radio demos, hog oiler display, and swap meet.
