World-class music acts coming to Fort Dodge

Iowa Central sets five headliners, with a sixth still to come

Contemporary Christian hitmakers, ABBA’s timeless catalog, a country chart-topper, Southern rock legends, and a Broadway-caliber doo-wop revue are all headed to Fort Dodge over the coming months.

The Center for Performing Arts at Iowa Central Community College has announced its 2026-2027 Center for Performing Arts Series, a five-show slate at Decker Auditorium built to carry the momentum of a successful first season. Every performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

“We are incredibly excited about this season,” said Brady O’Brien, coordinator of the Center for Performing Arts at Iowa Central. “After a successful inaugural year, our goal was to build on that momentum by bringing a diverse lineup of nationally recognized artists and productions to Fort Dodge. This season offers something for everyone, from contemporary Christian music and classic country to iconic rock and roll, ABBA’s timeless hits, and Broadway-caliber entertainment.”

The season opens Aug. 30 with a double bill of contemporary Christian artists Andrew Ripp and Riley Clemmons.

Direct From Sweden: The Music of ABBA follows on Oct. 24, and country hitmaker Collin Raye will take the stage Nov. 22.

After the winter break, The Marshall Tucker Band performs March 12, 2027, and The Doo Wop Project closes the series April 9 with its show “Echoes of the Street.”

O’Brien said the schedule came together after months of weighing patron feedback, touring routes, and artist availability.

“We listen closely to feedback from our patrons, evaluate current touring schedules, consider artist availability, and work to create a season that appeals to a wide variety of audiences,” said O’Brien. “We want each season to be balanced and provide experiences that people may otherwise have to travel hours to see. Our goal is to bring high-quality entertainment right here to Fort Dodge while continuing to enhance the cultural opportunities available in our community.”

O’Brien was reluctant to name a favorite, but two shows stood out to him.

“Personally, I’m especially excited about The Marshall Tucker Band,” O’Brien said. “They’re a legendary group with a catalog of songs that have stood the test of time, and it’s exciting to bring a nationally known act of that caliber to Decker Auditorium. At the same time, Direct From Sweden: The Music of ABBA is an incredible production, and I think audiences are going to have a fantastic time experiencing that show live.”

For O’Brien, the Center for Performing Arts’ series is about more than just a night out.

“The Center for Performing Arts Series was created to provide meaningful cultural experiences, educational opportunities for our students, and economic impact for our community,” O’Brien said. “Every ticket purchased helps us continue bringing world-class performers to Fort Dodge while creating opportunities for student engagement through master classes, workshops, and hands-on event management experiences. We’re proud to continue growing the series and serving as a regional destination for live entertainment.”

According to O’Brien, there is even more to come as a sixth act is still to be announced.
