One dead in FD shooting
Police say there is no threat to the public

A man was shot and killed in Fort Dodge Friday afternoon, according to police.
A suspect was quickly identified and detained.
Neither the victim or the suspect have been identified by police.
The Fort Dodge Police Department reported that the shooting was an isolated incident between two people who knew each other. There is no threat to the public, according to police.
The shooting was reported at 1:52 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Third Avenue North.
The victim was found near a garage behind the house at 1327 Third Ave. N. He was treated at the scene by police, paramedics and firefighters before being transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center. He later died at the hospital.
Police said his name was not being released because they were in the process of trying to notify his family.
The suspect was found at the scene, according to police. It was unknown if any criminal charges had been filed by press time Friday night.
Investigators are encouraging anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the 1300 block of Third Avenue North around the time of the shooting to call the Police Department at (515) 573-1424.
They are also seeking any security camera images of the area. Anyone who has such images is also asked to contact the Police Department.
