LAKE CITY -- A Lake City man will spend about 17 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug and gun charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa reported.
Clayton Brown, 34, pleaded guilty on March 18 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand recently sentenced Brown to 210 months in prison.
Prosecutors said Brown admitted to being part of a conspiracy that distributed about four pounds of methamphetamine over the course of eight months in 2025. They said that on two occasions in October 2025, he distributed 80 grams of pure methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.
During a search of Brown's home, law enforcement officers seized a handgun, methamphetamine, marijuana, more than $2,000 in cash and what prosecutors called "other items related to drug distribution."
The U.S. Attorney's Office reported that Brown had seven prior felony convictions, which prohibited him from having guns.
Brown remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, awaiting transfer to a federal prison.
The case against Brown was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
