Hamilton County supervisors receive quarterly report from Hamilton County Growth Partnership

WEBSTER CITY — The regular meeting of the Hamilton County Supervisors Tuesday was relatively quiet with few decisions needing discussion, which allowed Chairman Rick Young to handle the bi-monthy meeting quickly.

Ottie Maxie, Executive Director of the Hamilton County Growth Partnership–HCGP, presented the quarterly report to the supervisors. His report was full of accomplishments which included:

• Edible Garden which represented $75 million private investment

• Two housing projects through Origina Homes and Kading Properties

• Industrial Park completion

• Visits to 15 existing businesses to encourage growth, and business support.

Upcoming events for the HCGP include a business appreciation event and a presentation of the State of Education in August, with Matt Berninghaus of Webster City, Heather Holm of South Hamilton and Jesse Ulrich of Iowa Central Community College participating in a panel discussion.

He cautioned the supervisors, saying that this quarterly report was exceptional, and that it won’t always have so many high points.

In other business, the supervisors approved the continuation of the contract with Clifton Larson Auditing Service, approved a new subdivision west of Jewell, with two families already planning to build and move to the Jewell location. This development will be called Epic Sunsets.

There was also a resolution to renew the 28E agreement with the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center.

Amanda Shelton reminded the supervisors of the VA coffee to be held in the basement of the Hamilton County Courthouse on July 22. This will begin at 8:30 a.m. Shelton noted that this will be the first coffee they are holding without sending out individual postcards to the veterans, due to the increasing cost of postage. All veterans are encouraged to attend and to remind others.

Starting at $4.62/week.
