Teske retires after 38 years

The roster of the Fort Dodge Fire Department has been changed by one retirement and a series of promotions.
Capt. Steve Teske will retire Friday after about 38 years of service.
Mayor Dave Flattery presented him with a proclamation during Monday's council meeting.
Teske joined the Fire Department in 1988. He advanced through the ranks, becoming captain in 2013. As a captain, he was in command of one shift of firefighters.
During his career, he was also part of the committee which prepared the specifications for the department's trucks.
To replace him, Lt. Tom Ubben was promoted to captain.
He joined the department in 2011 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2017. He also previously served as coordinator of the regional hazardous materials team operated by the Fire Department.
To fill the lieutenant's vacancy created by Ubben's promotion, Firefighter/Paramedic Andy Midtling was promoted. He joined the department in 2013 and was the most recent hazardous material team coordinator.
Firefighter/Paramedic Kyle Porter has been named the hazardous material team coordinator. That is a job he will take on in addition to his regular duties.
Firefighter/Paramedic Kasey Porter was named an assistant fire mechanic charged with helping to maintain the department’s vehicles.
Ubben, Midtling and the Porters were introduced to the City Council Monday.
