The worship and music team at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge has announced three upcoming events entitled, “Stories and Songs of Praise,” which will serve as summer worship opportunities to honor the church’s original commitment in utilizing their Christian Life Center for contemporary worship experiences.

The first service night will be held at 7 p.m. June 24.

The primary focus of the praise services will be to create an evening that draws others to a closer faith walk in a more modern, music-driven, storytelling format. It will focus predominantly on contemporary Christian music, led by First Presbyterian Church director of ministry and resident pianist Gabriel Alves. Band members include well-known area musicians such as Jake and Greg Merritt and JB Kilpeck, as well as long-time praise singers Joseph and Teresa Jackson, Roxanne Amhof, Scott and Kia Deuel, and Laurie Johnson for the initial June performance.

Each evening will also include the personal Christian testimony of a community member who has made a positive impact in the area.

The overarching goal of the team is to create a community connection in a relaxed setting with the chance to pray with and for each other — sharing across denominations — and take the chance to reset and refocus midweek on the struggles and successes of living a life of faith.

Next Wednesday’s event also features guest Kelli Glasgo, who heads up the prison ministry at Church of the Damascus Road. On July 22, Chris Walker — long-time owner of Walker’s Bike Shop — will visit. The Aug. 26 service brings the testimony of Charles Clayton, whose work with Athletics for Education and Success has transformed the lives of countless young people in the region.

The hour-long events each month are free. All are welcome to attend.

Please enter First Presbyterian Church on the southeast side off of North 12th Street, which is the same entrance of the KidZone daycare service. Signs will be posted, and greeters will help direct attendees to the Christian Life Center.

Starting at $4.62/week.
