Chad Elliott will hold a poetry workshop at Flour & Bloom Iowa on July 12. He is an artist, author and songwriter.

Flour & Bloom Iowa invites the community to slow down, connect with nature, and explore the art of storytelling during a special outdoor poetry workshop led by acclaimed Iowa artist, author, and songwriter Chad Elliott.

During this immersive three-hour workshop, participants will learn how to connect their writing to the natural world for a more meaningful and authentic poetry experience. The class will take place outdoors among the flowers at Flour & Bloom Iowa, offering inspiration from the beauty and stillness of the flower fields themselves.

The workshop is set to run from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 12 at the Flour & Bloom Iowa Studio, located at 2192 120th St., in Fort Dodge.

The cost to attend is $55 per participant. For additional information and registration details, visit Flour & Bloom Iowa on social media or contact the studio directly.

Guests will enjoy guided writing exercises, time to reflect and create in nature, and the opportunity to learn from one of Iowa’s most celebrated creative voices. Participants will also have time to wander the flower fields and will leave with fresh flowers.

All skill levels are welcome, from experienced writers to those simply looking to explore creativity in a new way.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a journal or notebook. Snacks and drinks are welcome. The workshop will be held outdoors in the flower field.

Elliott is one of Iowa’s most accomplished and respected artists, and having the chance to learn directly from him in an intimate outdoor setting is truly unique. Whether you are an experienced writer, someone curious about poetry, or simply a person who loves music, flowers, nature, and creativity, this workshop offers a welcoming and inspiring experience for everyone.

Poetry and storytelling have long been central to Elliott’s creative work. Performing original music across the country for more than two decades, Elliott has written nearly 2,000 songs throughout his career and earned national recognition, including the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Award. Over the years, he discovered that some verses needed no musical accompaniment and could stand powerfully on their own.

Elliott is also an accomplished author and poet. His poetry collection, “Rumble & Flash,” explores themes of nature, spirituality, love, and life on the road, while his children’s book, “Wilderman’s Treetop Tales,” blends storytelling, poetry, music and illustration. His work has been praised for its authenticity, emotional depth, and strong connection to the landscapes and spirit of the Midwest.

In 2025, Elliott was inducted into the Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2026 he received the “Best Guitarist” award at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

Organizers encourage attendees to reserve their spot soon, as space is limited for this one-day-only experience.

Starting at $4.62/week.
