FORT DODGE — Local law enforcement officers will be raising money for Special Olympics from 6 a.m. to noon TODAY at Dunkin’, 2520 Fifth Ave. S. Every dollar raised helps provide opportunities, training, and competition for Special Olympics athletes throughout Iowa. Donors can receive a free doughnut, iced or hot coffee, or a koozie, based on the amount donated.
FORT DODGE — First United Methodist Church, First Avenue North and 10th Street, will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. TODAY and 9 a.m. to noon SATURDAY. Enter the church on the west side (steps or elevator). On Saturday, the cost will be $4 per bag or half price on large items. Proceeds will help fund missions — local, state, national and international.
FORT DODGE — National Kids to Parks Day is SATURDAY. Details about how to participate in the scavenger hunt can be found at fortdodgeiowa.org. Participants will have to find the scavenger word at each of these parks: Bob Hay Memorial Conservation Area, 2095 Rich Mill Road; Moorland Pond, 1613 234th St.; Liska Stanek Prairie, 18277 260th St.; Hydro-Electric Park, Fourth Avenue Northwest and First Street Northwest; R.D. Mitchell Park, Second Avenue North and 25th Street; H.C. Meriwether Park, 10th Avenue Southwest and 10th Street Southwest. Completing the hunt and filling out a scorecard will make participants eligible for prizes, such as two nights of free camping at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park. But all scorecards must be emailed to awolfe@fortdodgeiowa.org by 11 a.m. Monday to be eligible.
FORT DODGE — The Fort Museum, 1 Museum Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. TODAY and SATURDAY, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. SUNDAY. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and veterans with ID, $4 for children ages 5-17 and free for children ages 4 and younger.
FORT DODGE — Blanden Memorial Art Museum, 920 Third Ave. S., is open from noon to 5 p.m. TODAY and SATURDAY.
FORT DODGE — A Frontier Days volunteer meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. SUNDAY in the Opera House at the Fort Museum and Frontier Village, 1 Museum Road.
