FD woman pleads guilty to drug conspiracy

A Fort Dodge woman accused of dealing fentanyl pills has pleaded guilty to a federal crime, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Leslie J. Fanning, 36, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl, federal prosecutors said.

Between 2021 and June 2024 she and others planned to distribute fentanyl, according to the Attorney’s Office. On three occasions in May 2024, she distributed blue pills marked M-30 which contained fentanyl to a person cooperating with law enforcement. Prosecutors said Fanning admitted to distributing thousands of pills containing fentanyl. She is in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service awaiting sentencing.
