Around 30 vehicles were on display for the fall car show at Fort Dodge Senior High, put on by the school’s Racing Club. The club will be hosting a spring show on May 9 at the high school parking lot.

The Fort Dodge Senior High Racing Club will host its Spring Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9 at the high school, 825 N. 25th St.

The event is open to the public and welcomes all types of vehicles, from classic muscle cars to modern performance builds, race cars, trucks, imports, bikes and more.

This will be the club’s second car show after a successful debut event this past fall, which brought out 30 vehicles from across the area. The racing club is hoping for an even bigger turnout this time around.

“We had an awesome mix of vehicles at our first show,” said advisor Jeremiah Reed. “Everything from a 1931 Chrysler to a 2019 Alfa Romeo to full fledged race vehicles. It really showed how diverse the car community is here, and we’re excited to build on that.”

Vehicle entry is freewill donation, with proceeds going directly toward supporting Racing Club activities and student opportunities throughout the year.

Funds help cover expenses for hands-on projects, events, and educational experiences, including the club’s recent trip to the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, where students were able to connect with professionals from across the motorsports industry.

The Racing Club meets weekly at the high school. Reed, who races an IMCA Sport Modified himself, has kids work on his car, or he brings in mechanics from another shop who work with race cars. He also takes kids to visit shops in town.

Awards will be presented in multiple categories.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register to help with event planning, though day-of registration will also be available. Pre-registration can be completed through the FDSH Racing Club Facebook page or by emailing jreed@fdschools.org.

In addition to the vehicles, attendees can enjoy food from Duck King Yum and music provided by Elite Entertainment, creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for the community.

The FDSH Racing Club provides students with hands-on experience in motorsports, fabrication, and automotive technology by working on real race equipment and participating in events like the car show.

Community members are encouraged to come out, check out a wide variety of vehicles, and support local students as they continue to grow the program.

Starting at $4.94/week.
