Purchases, new position approved by FD council

Some new municipal vehicles were ordered by the Fort Dodge City Council Monday.

The council ordered two Dodge Durangos for the Police Department from Fort Dodge Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for $84,486.

Those will replace two older, high mileage patrol vehicles.

The council also bought a Ford Ranger pickup for the Recreation Department from Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota for $35,496.

The council also created a new, part-time records and support technician in the Fire Department. This individual will assist with billing for the ambulance service provided by the Fire Department. They will also assist with maintaining records for emergency medical services, inspections, fire prevention programs and confined space rescue training. They will assist the department’s business operations specialist.

Hiring this individual is estimated to cost $3,472 for the rest of the current fiscal year.

Also on Monday, the council:

• Purchased a public address system for the Mini Majors portion of Harlan and Hazel Rogers Sports Complex for $41,909. 24 from Modern Sound Engineering Inc., of Fort Dodge.

• Purchased 2,491 square feet of right-of-way needed for the reconstruction of the intersection of Second Avenue North and 15th Street from Kwik Star for $13,250.

• Approved the second readings of updated fire and building codes.
