The Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club's annual plant and garden sale is set for May 7 at the Lions Den, 731 Expo Drive.
Spring, in all of its wonder, will be in bloom at the Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club’s annual plant and garden sale May 7.
The event, one of two yearly fundraisers for the group, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lions Den located at 731 Expo Drive.
According to Nancy Phillips and Rita Milberger, two individuals who have been instrumental among many club members in setting up the event over the last decade plus, there will be a wide variety of items for sale, including flowering and vegetable plants, homegrown produce and antiques of nearly every size and shape.
“We have every table full,” Phillips said. “Everyone is welcome to attend. You never know what you might find.”
Two of the more eye-catching items on hand will be concrete painted cast leaves, which can be used for decorative purposes around the home and fairy wands in two sizes.

Older Mason canning jars, large puzzles, a variety of yard and garden tools, rare African marigold seeds, knick-knacks, and pots and planters will also be available for the green thumbs in attendance. A door prize raffle is available for $1 per ticket upon entrance, too.
“We raise funds for several local organizations, including Webster County 4-H, the River’s Edge Discovery Center, the public library, United Way, Salvation Army, the Lord’s Cupboard, Holy Trinity Parish and Webster County agriculture,” Phillips added.
“We’re always seeking new members,” Milberger said. “We meet every third Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Lion’s Den. Everyone is hands-on with this fundraiser and our annual garden walk every summer.”
