Hansel honored by school business group

He has served FDCSD 14 years

Brandon Hansel, executive director of financial services for the Fort Dodge Community School District, has been honored by the Iowa Association of School Business Officials.

Hansel received the Iowa Professional Leadership Award, one of the highest honors the association presents.

He has been a school business official for 16 years, with 14 of those years in the Fort Dodge Community School District.

During his tenure, he has led initiatives such as transitioning to a paperless business office, implementing self-funded insurance and expanding electronic payment systems.

He has been honored by the Government Finance Officers Association and ASBO International. Hansel serves on the Iowa Department of Education’s Finance Roundtable and teaches budget and finance courses for the Iowa School Finance Leadership Consortium. He serves as a regional director of the Iowa Association of School Business Officials.

He also serves on the boards of the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge and the Ann Smeltzer Charitable Trust. He is a coach for the Fort Dodge Soccer Association.

Hansel’s award includes a $1,000 scholarship to be presented to a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High School.
