Moped rider injured in crash

Fort Dodge firefighter/paramedics prepare to transport a man who was injured Wednesday afternoon when the moped he was driving collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 14th Street Southwest and 10th Avenue Southwest. The man appeared to be suffering from leg and neck injuries. He was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by ambulance. The crash happened at about 4 p.m. It remained under investigation by Fort Dodge police Wednesday evening. Sometime prior to the crash, a temporary stop sign controlling traffic on 10th Avenue Southwest was turned the wrong way so that drivers approaching the intersection could not see it. It was not immediately clear if that led to the crash.

The wrecked moped came to rest along the curb on 10th Avenue Southwest. A Webster County sheriff’s deputy assisted Fort Dodge police and firefighters at the scene.
