FD man arrested in Ames double homicide

A man wanted in connection with a January shooting in Fort Dodge has been charged with stabbing a woman and child to death Friday night in Ames, according to Ames police.
Davontrez R. McCuddin, 22, of Fort Dodge, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder, police in Ames reported.
At 8:42 p.m. Friday police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to 3917 Tripp St. in Ames for a reported stabbing. There they found a woman and a young child, both suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both of them died, police reported.
Officers found McCuddin nearby and arrested him.
The identities of the woman and child have not been released.
Fort Dodge police have been seeking McCuddin for about three months. He is wanted for attempt to commit murder in connection with a January shooting that seriously injured Demontray Dungy, of Fort Dodge.
That incident was reported at 12:35 a.m. Jan. 4 at 903 Eighth St. S.W.
On a GoFundMe page, friends of Dungy wrote that he was “shot multiple times after someone knocked on his door.”
Webster County Crimestoppers had been offering a $750 reward for information leading to his arrest.
