Conservation event will help people ‘spring into spring’

Activities planned for March 28

It may not seem like it this weekend, but spring will inevitably come to Iowa.

To get people ready for the warmer weather, Webster County Conservation has a special event planned for March 28 at Camp WaNoKi, southeast of Fort Dodge at 2400 WaNoKi Camp Road. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It will feature these four activities:

• Learning how maple syrup is made. Those in attendance will see that syrup comes from trees, not plastic bottles at the supermarket. They will also get to sample its natural goodness with Dutch oven cornbread.

• Making walking sticks and other nature crafts.

• Looking for a golden antler while hiking the trails of Camp WaNoKi.

• Working as a team to solve an escape room challenge.

Spring Into Spring is designed for all ages.

There is no admission fee.
